Pistons officially hire Maurice Cheeks as their new head coach, could Iguodala also make his way to Detroit?

Philadelphia 76ers v Denver Nuggets

It looks like the recent reports of the Pistons offering the Maurice Cheeks the head coaching job were true.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN the Pistons have officially hired Mo Cheeks to become their new head coach amid a weekend of speculation surrounding the now former Oklahoma City assistant.

Matt Dery of 97.1 The Ticket further reported that the deal is believed to be for three years with a possible fourth year. In addition to this Dery also believes that with Cheeks in Detroit Andre Iguodala who will become a free agent this offseason could be a target for the Pistons.

Cheeks was the head coach of Iguodala when the two were in Philadelphia.

Regardless there’s still plenty of question marks surrounding Cheeks as the new head guy in Motown. The veteran earned high marks as an assistant with the Thunder despite not having much success as a head coach with Philadelphia or Portland. In fact he didn’t have a single winning season while he was with the 76ers.

So did he finally work out the coaching kinks with the Thunder or is that what he really is… an assistant in the Association? Nonetheless Joe Dumars’ job probably depends on it.
