Tigers centerfielder Austin Jackson’s stint on the 15-day DL with a strained left hamstring has carried on much longer than expected. In fact Jackson’s time on the 15-day DL has morphed itself into a 4 week DL stay with relatively little news to report on during that time period.
Well that’s until now.
According to Jason Beck of MLB.com, Jackson could begin a minor league rehab assignment early this week setting up a return to the Tigers this weekend in Minnesota if all goes according to plan.
Austin Jackson will go out on rehab assignment with @MudHens if he feels OK today. Will join Toledo on road trip in Rochester.

The 26-year old Jackson has been having a fine season thus far hitting .272/.333/.371 with two home runs, five stolen basses and 33 runs scored. He also had 11 RBI the 34 games he played in prior to going down with the hamstring injury.
UPDATE: Jackson has departed for his rehab assignment with the Toledo Mud Hens.
