Report: Red Wings assistant GM Jim Nill to take over Dallas Stars

It wasn’t all good news for the Red Wings Saturday night in Dallas…

According to various reports, Red Wings assistant GM Jim Nill is expected to take over for Joe Nieuwendyk as the Dallas Stars’ new general manager next season.

An announcement making the move official should come Monday.

Nill joined the Red Wings’ front office in the summer of 1994 after a stint in Ottawa as an amateur scout for the Senators. Since then Nill has played a big role within the Wings’ organization overseeing the development of the team’s prospects as well as helping the organization win Stanley Cups in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008.
