Lions safety Amari Spievey arrested after fight with girlfriend over child abuse

Here we go again…

According to the Mercury News, Lions safety Amari Spievey was arrested in Middletown, Connecticut Tuesday after an altercation with his girlfriend over child support.

The 24-year-old Spievey (who was brought back by the Lions on a one-year deal), was charged with third-degree assault, risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct. Spievey’s girlfriend, 26-year-old Lisamarie Santos, was also charged with risk of injury and disorderly conduct for her alleged involvement in the domestic dispute.

Santos told police she and Spievey, her live-in boyfriend, got into an argument about child support. She said he is the father of her 2-year-old daughter. At one point during the argument, Spievey put his hand around Santos’ neck and pushed her, she told police. Police said they observed a small red mark on the front side of her neck.

In a later statement to police, Santos said Spievey was telling her daughter “not to be like your mother.’ She also told police that when she asked Spievey for money, he told her to “take him to court,’ according to police.

Furthermore according to the report, Santo’s pushed Spievey while holding the 2-year-old child with Spievey retaliating by pushing her back. After Santos tried to take the child away from Spievey, he pushed her once again causing her to stumble against the a counter.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Lions handle this one.
