The Wings got a little revenge in more ways than one as they pounded on the Dallas Stars for a 4-1 victory Tuesday night from the Joe.
Valtteri Filppula managed to find his scoring touch from a year ago lighting the lamp twice as the Wings (3-2-1) moved above the .500 mark for the first time this season. Both of Filppula’s goals came off spectacular passes from Pavel Datsyuk who finished with two assists on the night.
Damien Brunner continued to impress scoring his third goal of the season 23 second apart in the third period from Filppula’s second of the night.
Henrik Zetterberg also managed to get on the tally sheet scoring his second of the year, this time during a two-man advantage to give the Wings a 2-1 lead in the second period.
Jimmy Howard also had a solid night in net making 25 saves for the victory.
The game itself got off with a bang as Jordin Tootoo dropped the gloves with Dallas’ Eric Nystrom just three seconds into the first period. Tootoo would eventually drop the gloves yet again later in the period with Brenden Dillon.
After avenging their 2-1 loss to the Stars from last week, the Wings will now look for some revenge against St. Louis when they take on the Blues from the Joe this coming Friday. In the season opener St. Louis embarrassed Detroit as they handed the Wings a 6-0 loss.
