Brandon Knight had 20 points while Greg Monroe’s double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds helped sink the Sacramento Kings 103-97 sending the Pistons to their third straight victory.
Pistons guard Will Bynum was hot off the bench once again scoring 15 points while Austin Daye added 13 including a three pointer in the closing seconds of the fourth to seal the win.
In what looked to be an early blowout by the Pistons, Sacramento clawed their way back as Jimmer Fredette scored 14 points, 13 in the fourth quarter trimming 16 point Detroit lead down to one. Isaiah Thomas scored 12 and Jason Thompson had 16 points while John Salmons added 10.
And speaking of Isaiah Thomas, the guard became involved in altercation with Charlie Villanueva in the second quarter of the game. This occurred when Villanueva apparently caught Thomas with a forearm as the undersized point guard was driving to the net.
Villanueva was subsequently ejected from the game while Thomas got to stay in the game despite a fiery response.
Detroit shot 52 % from the field (39-for-75) and made 8 of 20 (40%) from the three-point line. The Pistons also proved once again to be the dominant team on the boards out rebounding the Kings 44-37 as well as outscoring them in the paint, 48-34.
With the victory the Pistons have now won a season high three straight games. They’ve also won five of their last six games.
