Tigers Winter Meetings news and notes: Andy Oliver and Brennan Boesch trade bait, more

With the Winter Meetings underway, here is the latest surrounding the Dave Dombrowski and the Detroit Tigers…

  • Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com tweets that the Tigers are telling other teams that Brennan Boesch and Andy Oliver could be had in a trade.

  • Knobler also tweets that the Tigers have had interest in outfielder Scott Hairston but cooled on that interest due to the price. Nonetheless Knobler says the Tigers are still looking for a right handed outfielder to platoon with Andy Dirks.

  • Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com originally tweeted that the Tigers offered free agent pitcher Anibal Sanchez a 4-year, $48 million dollar contract which Sanchez agent called an “insult”. MLB.com’s Jason Beck however noted that this report wasn’t accurate and that the Tigers and Sanchez’s representatives are still talking.

  • Joel Sherman tweets that the Tigers continue to insist that they aren’t even talking to free agent reliever Rafael Soriano despite persistent rumors last week that Mike Ilitch has met with Soriano’s agent Scott Boras. Ilitch does remain to be a wild card in this Sherman states due to his (Ilitch’s) good relationship with Boras.
