Against the NBA’s best team the Pistons held their own early however as the turnover began to pile up so did opposition point totals as Detroit fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 90-78 tonight from the FedEx Forum.
Greg Monroe led the way for the Pistons with 17 points and 9 rebounds. However Monroe also committed 7 turnovers in the contest which in turn totaled 22 for the team. Brandon Knight added 10 points but also had trouble turning over the ball once again accumulating 6 on the night.
“They are a good defensive team, but I think a lot of our problems came from turnovers,” said Knight who had six turnovers. “Unforced turnovers and unforced errors. We gave them a lot of easy baskets.”
The Pistons were able to out rebound the Grizzlies 46-39 as well as open the third quarter with a 12-4 run to even up the score. However Mike Conley converted a three point play and connected on a shot beyond the arc to give Memphis a 76-66 lead heading to the fourth.
From the fourth quarter on Memphis was able to carry at least an 8 point lead as both teams had trouble scoring points.
With the loss the Pistons have now lost three straight on the road and fall to 1-9 away from The Palace this season.
