97.1 The Ticket is adding a female perspective to the “Jamie and Stoney Show”.

Thursday the station announced that Detroit Tigers stadium host Heather Park would join the duo as a co-host. The Ticket program director Jimmy Powers cited Park’s “experience with the Detroit Tigers and WWJ-TV” plus her “personality” as the reasoning behind her hiring.

Via CBS Detroit:

Jimmy Powers, program director said, “Heather’s experience with the Detroit Tigers and WWJ-TV combined with her personality makes her the perfect fit for the ‘Jamie and Stoney Show’. I look forward to the evolution of the show with the addition of Heather.”

“I’m excited for this opportunity! Jamie and Stoney make such a great morning show team and I can’t wait to join them to bring a new female voice to mornings in Detroit,” said Park.

Ironically enough the “Jamie and Stoney Show” had a female co-host not long ago. Back in December the station fired Sarah Fouracre who was a carry over from the old “Stoney and Bill” show before Bill McAllister was eventually shown the door.

On that note alone this is an interesting hire. That and the station is still among the best in the Detroit market. However in all fairness, Park does bring more than just being a stadium host for the Tigers. She was the past host of Detroit Sports News on WWJ on top of being the current Michigan Golf Weekly host and a former sideline reporter for ESPN 3.

So there’s certainly the sports broadcast experience which leads you to believe this isn’t just some gimmick hire by the station. All things considered.
