Agent: Bertuzzi and the Wings close to a 2 year contract extension

According to Todd Bertuzzi’s agent Pat Morris, the Wings and the veteran forward are close to a two-year contract extension (via Mlive.com).

Sources indicate that the deal will give the Wings a cap hit of slightly more than $2 million dollars and could be announced Thursday.

Bertuzzi, who turned 37 on February 2nd is in the final year of a two-year contract with a cap his of $1.937 million this season. After having a slow start to the season, Bertuzzi was rejuvenated when he was put on a line with Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen.

So far, Bertuzzi has 12 goals, 17 assists and a plus-21 rating in 54 games.
