Surging Pistons beat Celtics 96-82

Someone break up the Pistons!

Sunday evening Greg Monroe led the way for the Pistons with his 17 points and 10 assists as the Pistons beat the Boston Celtics 96-82 from The Palace. With the win Detroit has now won seven of its last nine games, including two victories in five days over the Celtics, who were missing Kevin Garnett (personal reasons) and Brandon Bass (left knee).

Detroit’s Rodney Stuckey added 16 points while Paul Pierce led Boston with 18 points.

The Pistons were also able to win in the paint out rebounding the Celtics 43-40 and outscoring Boston 42-20 down low.

Detroit however was really able to capitalize off Boston turnovers.

The Pistons scored 40 points off 24 Celtic turnovers while Boston got only 13 points off of 15 Detroit turnovers. The Pistons also had a 29-6 edge in second-chance points.

Detroit is now just 5 ½ games behind eighth-place Boston who holds the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
