Jimmy Howard not quite ready yet, penciled in for Tuesday against Chicago

Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard who has been out since February 2nd with a broken finger isn’t quite ready to return after being penciled in for a Sunday start against San Jose. This comes via Ansar Khan of MLive.com’s twitter page.

Babcock said MacDonald starts sunday vs. sharks. howard gets couple more days and will start in chicago tues.

The Wings can afford to give Howard another couple of days after the outstanding play of Joey MacDonald who will once again get the start Sunday against the Sharks. In relief of Howard, MacDonald has won five straight and left general manager Ken Holland with tough decision as to whether or not to send MacDonald or Conklin (the previous backup) back down to Grand Rapids.

Howard who hasn’t started since a February 2nd shootout win over Vancouver is now scheduled to start Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
