The back-and-fourth court battles between Ezekiel Elliott and the NFL simply won’t fucking end.

Friday, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted the NFLPA (on behalf of Elliott) a stay in the Cowboys running back’s six-game suspension stemming from domestic violence allegations by a former girlfriend.

The decision means Elliott’s six-game suspension is on hold once again and he is eligible to play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 2nd Circuit said its brief order does not constitute a resolution on the merits of the court case.

However despite the stay for this week, Elliott’s future this season is still cloudy down the final stretch of the regular season. Judges will convene next week to hear Elliott’s arguments for an injunction against Judge Katherine Polk Failla’s ruling from Monday. If the panel rules against Elliott, he’ll begin serving his suspension next week.

The Cowboys, who currently sit at 4-3 and second in the NFC East have a tough home test Sunday against the 6-2 Kansas City Chiefs.
