Chris Sale

Despite being scratched from his start tonight against the Tigers, White Sox ace Chris Sale had his ‘cutter’ working in full form.

Earlier today it was announced by the team that Sale would be scratched from his Saturday start due to the flu. However it quickly spread that the flu excuse was actually BS, so what was the problem? Perhaps a trade? I mean Sale has been the focus of such in recent weeks.

Nope… Chris Sale apparently doesn’t like those White Sox throwback jerseys. And when I say he doesn’t like them, I mean he really doesn’t like them. And when I mean really doesn’t like them I’m talking going in and cutting up all the throwback jerseys so they can’t be worn at all.

That’s right, Chris Sale actually went into the clue house prior to tonight’s game against the Tigers and cut up the throwbacks because he apparently requested prior that they don’t wear them during his starts.

Tommy Stokke of FanRag Sports was the first to report.

You can’t make this stuff up…

According to Ken Rosenthal, it appears those jerseys have become quite a distraction for Sale, so much so he believes the team cares more about making money on them than winning.

I guess if there was any hesitation to trading Sale before tonight, there may not be any now. Unfortunately though for the White Sox suitors now have to check with their own throwbacks to make sure there’s not conflict with Sale. The Rangers have been showing the most interest but to my knowledge I don’t believe they’ve used a throwback at all this season.

Come on though Chris… at least the White Sox haven’t started wearing these…
