If you haven’t thrown your bracket away yet there’s a good chance you did after tonight’s Sweet 16 games. Kentucky ended up knocking off the number one overall seed in the Tournament Ohio State 62-60 while Virginia Commonwealth, originally a first round team knocked off Florida State 72-71 in overtime.

For Kentucky, it was Brandon Knight who certainly made the night sweet for the Wildcats after he sunk the game winning shot with 5.2 seconds left in the second half to send Ohio State packing.

Kentucky will now go on to play North Carolina for the right to go to Houston to play in the Final Four.

The game was extremely tight and went back and fourth especially in the final few minutes of the second half. Jared Sullinger led Ohio State with 16 points, while Harrellson had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Kentucky.

In San Antonio, it was VCU doing some upsetting of their own taking down Florida State.

In similar fashion to the Ohio State/Kentucky game it came down to the final shot however this time it was in overtime.

In the final few seconds of the overtime period Joey Rodriguez was able to hit Bradford Burgess for the go-ahead layout with 7.1 seconds left. On the other end, Florida State drove down the court but was unable to get a shot off sealing the victory for 11th seeded VCU.

Burgess led VCU with a team-high 26 points in the game. Burgess also gave the Rams the early lead in overtime with a clutch three pointer. Derwin Kitchen led Florida State with 23 points, while Chris Singleton came off the bench to add 16.

VCU who advanced to their first Elite 8 in school history will face #1 Kansas.
