The Texas Rangers are once again American League Champions after they defeated the Detroit Tigers 15-5 Saturday night from Arlington winning the ALCS best of seven in six games.

The Rangers become the leagues first repeat champion in the last decade.

Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz hit his 6th home run setting an MLB record for the most home runs in a postseason series. He was also named the ALCS’ most valuable player.

Michael Young also hit a pair of two-run doubles in a nine-run third inning.

This series though was all about Nelson Cruz who in addition to setting that MLB record also had an astounding 13 RBIs which was another postseason record.

“He was unbelievable,” teammate Adrian Beltre said. “Every moment we needed him, he came through.”

The Rangers now wait for the winner of the NLCS between the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals with the World Series set to begin Wednesday night.

The Rangers will once again get another shot at winning the franchises first World title since they began play in 1961.
