Matt-Harvey-Mets-Max-Scherzer-Tigers-All-Star-Game-071513

Matt Harvey of the hometown Mets and Max Scherzer of the Detroit Tigers will be the MLB All-Star Game starting pitchers as NL manager Bruce Bochy and AL manager Jim Leyland announced their decisions Monday.

Neither choice came out of nowhere as Harvey has gone 7-2 with a 2.35 ERA so far this season all while leading the National League in strikeouts with 147 strikeouts and having 15 of his 19 outings being quality starts. Meanwhile Max Scherzer has been undefeated for a large part this season going 13-1 having finally lost this past weekend against the Texas Rangers. More importantly though Scherzer has been able to come in and pick up a recently slumping Justin Verlander while posting a 3.19 ERA and 152 strikeouts.
