UPDATE: ESPN confirmed yesterday that World Peace did in fact sign a deal with the Knicks. Let the zoo in New York begin?

After clearing waivers late Sunday evening after being amnestied by the Los Angeles Lakers, Metta World Peace has stated today that he would be joining the New York Knicks because he wants to win. World Peace doesn’t care if he ‘starts or is sweeping the floors, as long as they win.’

Two days ago there was talks from World Peace that he was all done with the NBA and he had expressed interest in playing for Los Angeles Clippers, coaching, arena football or going to China to play basketball. Now the agreement has been confirmed from World Peace’s agent Marc Cornstein and even World Peace’s twitter.

Once the deal is signed it will be worth approximately $1.6 million per year with a player option for the second year. The amnesty provision of the current CBA has stated that the Lakers will owe World Peace $7.3 million this upcoming season.
