Colorado (11-12-1) @ Detroit (17-8-0)
Detroit looked to move to 9-1 over their past ten games as they welcomed the Colorado Avalanche to the Joe.
The first period started with a bang, as Henrik Zetterberg (14) kept his hot hand from previous games, and scored at 4:27 (A: Cleary). Former Buffalo captain Jochen Hecht (2) tied it 12 minutes in however (A: O’Reilly, O’Brien). However Detroit would take the lead again, with 2 minutes left, Valtteri Filppula (11) beat Varlamov with doorstop punch in (A: Ericsson, Datsyuk).
8 Minutes into the second however, Detroit would lose the lead yet again, with John Mitchell (3) beating Howard (A: Wilson, Hunwick). However Detroit wouldn’t let the period end without another goal. This time, Daniel Cleary (8) gave them the go-ahead at 19:41 (A: Colaiacovo).
In the third, it would be put to bed. Gustav Nyquist (2) scored on the powerplay (A: Cleary, Fippula) and Bertuzzi (6) would ice it with an empty netter (A: White).
