The Atlanta Hawks have a new look coming next season that has nothing to do with their 0-2 hole in the Conference Finals against the Cavs.

This week the Hawks officially trademarked this logo with the United States Trademark and Patent Office which will more than likely debut next season.

The logo features two wings coming out of a flaming basketball that seems to form the letter A from the negative space. SportsLogos.net points out that this could be in reference to Atlanta is burning from the Civil War.

The new logo also may have been introduced unintentionally when the team released their kits for Christmas Day. As you can see below the burning basketball insignia can be seen on the waistband of the shorts.

The team also confirmed that the team would use a modified version of their classic pac-man logo as the team’s primary next season. You’d assume that the newly trademarked logo would serve as the team’s secondary logo. Meanwhile the new artwork fits right in with the Hawks’ new color scheme next year as they drop blue, keep red and add black and a neon green.
