Prior to the start of the 2014 season, things looked pretty bleak in terms of Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch (4.7 yards per carry, 17 touchdowns in 2014) staying in the Pacific Northwest beyond this year. There was the brief holdout and his odd antics as the season progressed didn’t manage to help the notion of Lynch remaining a Seahawk in 2015 and beyond.
Things however have changed in recent weeks as the Seahawks made another run to the Super Bowl not to mention the reality of Lynch possibly playing in his last game with Seattle.
Has Seattle bluffed?
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Seattle looks prepared to offer Lynch a long-term deal that not only would keep him with the Seahawks in 2015 but the rest of his career.
The deal is believed to include more than $10 million for Lynch in the 2015 season alone. Lynch currently is slated to make $5 million in 2015, the final year of what originally was a four-year, $31 million deal.
Not only is Lynch’s impending contract a concern though, Russell Wilson’s rookie deal is also about to expire and the Seahawks are prepared to sign him to a massive deal as well, one that would make him the highest paid QB in the League. Either way it’ll definitely be interesting to see how Seattle keeps both Lynch and Wilson under contract in 2015.
