Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer Ernie Banks has passed away at the age of 83 according to a family attorney.

Mr. Cub as he was affectionately known, Banks began his career with the Cubs back in 1953 as a shortstop while playing a total of 19 seasons. And it was during those 19 seasons Banks would accumulate a .274/.330/.500 slash line with 407 doubles, 512 homers and 1636 RBI. This also included 2583 hits and 1305 runs.

Loved by Cubs and opposing fans alike, Banks was a 12-time All-Star and two-time MVP leading the NL in homers and RBI twice.
