Things are a mess at Notre Dame right now which all stem from the academic fraud allegations that surfaced last week which led to the dismissal of four players from the team according to FOX Sports. Unfortunately things may get worse for Notre Dame before they get better according to the South Bend Tribune who believes the Notre Dame scandal could be comparable to the one that North Carolina which left that athletic program with a dark cloud hanging over its head.
A source told the South Bend Tribune the scale of alleged fraud is comparable to the highly publicized case at the University of North Carolina and that a former player or players could be tied in as well.
Not only were UNC’s academic problems a black eye to the entire institution which is still very visible to this day, it was also extremely embarrassing when it became public what exactly the players were able to get away with. Not to mention their literacy coming into question.
With the UNC fiasco in mind, you’d have to suspect that more… a lot more is going to come out in the next few days, weeks and months regarding the Notre Dame academic situation. You also have to wonder if the scandal will end up costing head coach Brian Kelly his job?
