The Boston Red Sox clinched their third World Series in nine years with a 6-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6 from Fenway. This also marked the first time the Red Sox clinched at Fenway since 1918.

John Lackey picked up the win for the Boston going 6 2/3rd innings allowing 1 run on 9 hits while fanning five and walking one. After that much like the rest of the postseason the Boston bullpen was lights out as Tazawa, Workman and Uehara were lights out from there on out.

Meanwhile rookie starter Michael Wacha got roughed up early only going 3 2/3rds inning allowing 6 earned runs on just 5 hits. Shane Victorino had four of those RBIs while David Ortiz finished with an astounding .688 batting average to take home the World Series MVP title.

The Cardinals finished the series with just 4 runs and 19 hits in the last three games of the Fall Classic. Matt Carpenter was 3-5 in Game 6 while Allen Craig went 2-4.
