The Cardinals looked uncharacteristically bad during their 8-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the World Series last night. St. Louis, who is usually pretty sound defensively had 3 errors while the team surrendered 5 runs within the first two innings behind usual gamer Adam Wainwright.

And speaking of Wainwright he along with Yadier Molina (who is arguably the best catcher in the league) combined on a play that for the most part summed up a Game 1 the Cardinals will surely be happy to move on from.

This play which came off the bat of Stephen Drew didn’t account for an error, however at this point the Cardinals already had two. And to make matters worse Drew eventually scored off a single from Pedroia.
